Braeburn

Very Late Season. Crisp and juicy with a delightful array of flavours striking the right balance between sharpness and sweetness. Braeburn was one of the original bi-coloured apples available with a distinctive red and green skin.

Bramley

Bramley

Late season. Traditional Apple Pie flavour. Used in Copella all year round but only in small quantities. Distinctively green in colour and high in Vitamin C!

Cox's Orange Pippin

Cox's Orange Pippin

Mid season. An attractive apple with red skin and a light orange flush. Regarded as the finest flavoured “English Style” apple there is – the apple you remember from when you were a child!

Cripps Pink

Cripps Pink

Very late season. A very attractive apple with signature pink skin. It has a crunchy bite and sweet, honeyed flavour.

Discovery

Discovery

Early season. Crisp, moderately sweet and firm with a slightly chewy texture. The skin of discovery is a green/yellow colour with dark red flashes "Pink Juice" – a real sign of the new season.

Egremont Russet

Egremont Russet

Late season. A rich, nutty flavour and crisp, firm and fairly juicy flesh. Extremely characteristic skin that is covered with "russet" and so feels slightly like sandpaper when you pick it up!

Falstaff

Falstaff

Late season. A crisp and juicy dessert apple. An attractive looking apple with a red blush over a yellow/golden background. Easy to grow and is ideal as a garden variety.

George Cave

George Cave

Early season. The flavour is typical of early English apples and lacks any of the aromatic qualities found in later season varieties. It is somewhat stronger and more intense than other early season varieties. It is moderately juicy and the flesh has some crispness straight from the tree. The colour of a George Cave can vary from a green/yellow colour to completely red depending on its exposure to the sun!

Mid-Late season. A versatile apple, Golden Delicious can be eaten or used in cooking. It boasts a honeyed, crisp and juicy flesh and is an all round tasty variety.

Granny Smiths

Very late season. An instantly recognisable apple, Granny Smith has a hard, crisp flesh with quite a distinctive acidic, sharp flavour.

Greensleeves

Mid season. Greensleeves marries the sweet flavour of its Golden Delicious parent balanced by the acidity of its other parent; James Grieve. Instantly recognisable for its green/yellow skin.

Grenadier

Early season. White flesh cooking to a sharp, pale cream puree. A good early cooking variety.

Howgate Wonder

Howgate Wonder

Late season. A very large apple that can be quite sweet and pleasant when eaten fresh but is essentially a cooking apple. The skin is red with some orange flush and can be quite waxy in texture.

Early to mid season. A red apple that stores well and will keep for a long time.

James Grieve

James Grieve

Mid season. This is a savoury, juicy red/green apple with a strong acidity initially which mellows as the fruit mellows during September and the flesh softens soon thereafter.

Jonagold

Jonagold

Late season. A cross between Jonathon and Golden Delicious. Juicy and sweet flavour with a bit more acidity than Golden Delicious. Really drinkable on a long summer’s evening. The Jonagold is quite a large apple and has the yellow colour of a Golden Delicous with large specks of red.

Mid Season. This apple strikes just the right balance between a sweet and sharp flavour and has a yellow skin with a red flush.

Katy

Early – Mid Season. The Katy apple has quite a distinctive flavour in that there is a hint of strawberry to be detected. A very attractive looking apple with a red and green skin. Apart from that, it has a nice sweet, juicy flavour.

Mid/Late season. Juicy, sweet and honeyed. Very little texture but a strong contributor to the overall sweetness of Copella.

Mid-Late Season. There is a sweet and mild flavour present with a crisp, juicy and unmistakeably red flesh.

Mid season. The yellow flesh is firm, fine-grained and sweet with a pear taste.

Mid season. The flavour when picked straight from the tree is robust and sharp and not too pleasant however once stored, matures and sweetens. A green, sometimes flushed with red skin.

Worcester Pearmain

Worcester Pearmain

Early – Mid Season. Worcester Pearmain’s main distinctive feature is the strawberry flavour, although the intensity of this is quite variable. The skin is flushed with red over a green background.
